Hello,

A question about filling out the form W4 worksheet: Do contributions to a 401k come into the calculation at all?

Is it considered an "adjustment to income" and entered on Line 4?

Thank you.

No. The 401k contributions are already taken out of your taxable wage amount. This line would include adjustments you would report separately on your Federal return, like a self-employed health insurance deduction for instance, but not 401k contributions.
