USA What is the advantage to using forms of balance sheet presentations?

Question: To what advantage does the ACCOUNT FORM (horizontal format) have over the REPORT FORM (vertical format) in balance sheet presentations? Why is the REPORT FORM the most commonly used in a balance sheet?? Thanks!

"Report form" fits on a page in portrait view more easily
