Form 2688. Read the instructions for both 2688 and 4868. After the four
month extension with form 4868, the 2688 needs a good reason and the IRS
has to approve it. Both the 2688 and 4868 instructions tell you this.

Form 8800. Just like the 4868/2688 extension for the 1040, the 8736/8800
works the same way. You now need a good reason, and the IRS can reject
it.

Thanks for your reply.

I was referring to an Extension BEYOND October 15th.

Is it possible and under what circumstances for :
1040
1165 (Partnership)
CA Inc tax form 540
Keogh forms
CA LLC
etc.

Thank you.

Generally, no. But, if for some strange reason, you were on a fiscal year
end, or say November 30th, then your 2002 year would be ending November 30,
2003.

Also in general, if you have over-paid your taxes (you are expecting, and in
fact are getting, a refund) then no extension is needed.
