When filing an amended federal, how to proceed with the state if you havent sent it

If you efiled a federal return, and then you have to do an amended for this federal, but you haven't filed any state, can you file the state as if it was done based on the corrected information from the federal, or do you have to wait until the federal amended is received?, in order for you to send the state return?
