When is the Purge Feature Coming?

I am a little surprised that no one has mentioned that SBA does not have a
function (yet) to remove old transations. I refuse to believe that the
ability to purge old information was not a basic consideration when
designing the product.

Will this feature be included in the next patch?

Is there anyone that believes this feature is not a minimum requirement?
Does anyone know of any other accounting program on the market today that
does not have this feature?

Well, this is a non-issue for me as I rather have all my old transaction in
the database. It allows me to search my DB for old transactions without
having to go through all my binders. I liked this in Money and in QB and
never ever had used the purge function in any of those applications.

We have fast PCs and big (and fast) hard disks so the need to purge is no
long of such importance.

By the way, I agree that this should be a standard functionality.

Probably don't need it in the first version unless you brought over a
ton of history from QB. Even then, you probably brought over the detail
for a reason (see last post). I think people are going to need this in
the near future, as Allan suggests, however. No matter what, overall
speed of the application is dependent on how much data you have stored
-- even with a great database beneath it (e.g., reports take longer,
etc).

And, IIRC, as it is SQL based, they can use partitions, which would do
archiving automatically will keep the "fresh" records in fast partition.
They may do this now, not sure.

It's not a minimum requirement - it's not even permitted!

Since 1516, "Purge" has never been part of good accounting practice.

Say what?

Well I don't go back as far as 1516 but I can still remember when I first
started out in accounting taking the prior years ledger sheets out of the
binders and replacing them with blank ones for the new year. Naturally the
old sheets were backed up, I mean put away if needed for future reference.
