wife not in the country

I married in Europe last year and my wife came here only last month. I
supported her and I did live there for couple months (as much as my job
permitted me). How should I file - married, unmarried, single...?
If I can claim married filing jointly, then here is the second question. She
has a child that I cannot claim directly as being my dependent - but being
her dependent, can I claim the child as my dependent on our jointly filed
return? - the child lived abroad too. and by the way, her bilogical father
is not in the picture.
Thank you

See IRS Publication 519 for your options. Your choices are limited to
Married, Filing Jointly and Married, Filing Separately.

See Publication 501 for the rules on dependents.
