Will Store Operations 2.0 run on Windows 7

Gerd

Is there an official word if RMS SO 2.0 will run on a Windows 7 system?

I would like to upgrade 1 of my backoffice system to Win 7 end of the month.

Thanks for your reply.

Not sure about RMS, but POS 2009 runs like a top. I would wait untill you get
confirmed compstibility before making the change though.

I have been running 2.0 on win 7 for about 2 weeks now, have not had any
problems yet.. Had to try, only way to find out. Win 7 is great, does not
take up much hard drive space, I'm using a 60 gb SSD drive on it, very fast!!!

If I remeber correctly, I tested RMS 1.3 on Win 7 beta - SO and POS worked
fine but there were problems installing HQ. Now I use "real" Win 7 but
havent tried it, I use Windows Virtual PC with XP for RMS.

1.3R (the one with SQL2k5) works on a 32 bit version, 64 bit has an issue with the dongle.

2.0 works fine 32 and 64 bit, but one needs to allow SQL2k5 to install and then run Windows Update to update it.

Upgrading a 1.3R with MSDE to 1.3R with SQL2k5 on WinXP PRO ... or I can put the system on Vista 32 bit?

Anything I should be aware of or watch for... or that i am missing.
1) download & install SQL2k5
2) install 1.3R and patches
3) restore DB copy from msde (machine) to SQK2K5 (machine)
4) verify my receipt templates and custom reports are copied over to new computer
5) SO Admin - make sure server names and database connectivity is ok.
6) Client network utility Name Pipes & TCPIP

Danny,

7) Enable the OPENROWSET in SQL Surface Area Configuration | Surface Area Configuration for Features

Vijay,

This happened because you didn't install the SQL from the RMS install CD. It’s a really stupid install.

Go here to download and install the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Management Objects http://tinyurl.com/yajo4y9 about half way down. It used to be part of the Backward compatibility tools.

You might also grab the latest SQL Native Client while there too. Couple of lines down.

Note: Make sure that KB 952287 is installed on all machines http://tinyurl.com/nm38yq
