Working Tax Credit - How Long?

S

Section 31T

I sent a clam form for Working Tax Credit on Tuesday (27th May) and was
wondering how long I have to wait before I find out I have got it or not?

Also, will it be back dated to beginning of the Tax Year or that date the
form was signed.

Thanks.

Its normally backdated to when they get the form.
You've also hit one of the busier times, with many people renewing
their claims at the same time (they messed up my renewal but they
sorted it out within a week).

The last new claim I recall seeing (last financial year) took about 3
weeks.
I've noticed that the first I tend to know about awards is when the
money goes into the bank - the paperwork tends to follow days later.

Hi Section 31T (great handle)

Martin is not wrong.
My understanding though was that a claim is automatically backdated
for 3 months.
So if you claimed on 27th May it will be paid for the period beginning
27 Feb.
(Have just checked CPAG online benefit guide and confirmed this)

That is automatic.

Irrelevant Note: Claims can be backdated longer if there was a good
reason why you did not claim earlier.
Simply not knowing you could claim is not enough reason (by itself).
Check with an advisor if you think this may apply to you.

As for how long it takes? - dunno.
