ZZing each Register?

Do we have to ZZ out each register at the end of the day? Or is there a way
to ZZ all registers from a single register?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I am under the impression that a ZZ is used to
track over a longer period of time and that a Z is for a daily aspect of
clearing out the register.

Each machine has to be done.

I was in the understanding that the Z report was used after a shift and the
ZZ at the end of the day (after several shifts). I thought you would use the
reports if you wanted different time frames.

Anybody?

I think typical use is Z at the end of Day and ZZ at end of Month.
But you can do whatever you like.

root ha the answer,
"You can do whatever you like."

We have a shop where any cashier can use any till at any time of the day, so
we don't have "Shifts". We Z the till at the end of the day, and ZZ a the
end of the week.

I can understand though that if your business has a cashier who sits at the
till, you Z after each shift, and ZZ at the end of the day.

I don't use ZZ at all. Have no need for it. But every once in a while I'll
turn off the printer and ZZ just to clear it all out.

Sorry, but what (exactly) are you clearing out?

Every Z is stored(not sure where)until you ZZ. So if you never do it and
someone mistakingly clicks on it you would waste a bunch of paper. Once you
do a ZZ they are gone. I'm not really sure if they take up database space
or not, just figured a couple of minutes every once in a while to get rid of
them is good practice. I may be wrong about them being stored, but I do know
once you ZZ the old Z's are gone.

Craig,

No space taken up for the ZZ's, just a entry in the Register table as to what the last ZZ batch number was, per Register.

When you run a ZZ, RMS just totals from the last ZZ batch number stored, to the current one.
