We had a power outage due to a company digging in the ground they hit a major line. We had to close down for the day and half out night shift. My boss wants to charge them for loss of revenue for this time period.

Can someone tell me how I would figure out the lost revenue for this time period.

Thank You

ok can someone check this for me

total hrs for 2012 / total rev for 2012
hours lost times the number of employees = the lost revenue

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to do there, but I think you're going to need to use more up-to-date information than 2012 anyway seeing it's the middle of Nov 2013 now.

What kind of business is it and what part of it did the outage affect?

In the end it will come down to a neogtiation between your company and the culprit what they think is fair (if they even agree to pay). I would look at revenue each day for the prior few weeks/months to show what is a "typical" days receipts as a starting point. Hard to say without knowing what the business is and how cyclical your revenue is.

I am not sure what your calculation is doing.
