Quicken 2008: Can't import from QIF an expense whose category is another account

I'm working with Quicken 2008 Premier. I'm having the following completely wierd problem. I'm importing data into a Cash Account. The category is a Transfer account. I can import a Positive transaction (i.e., a receive) but not a Negative transaction (i.e., a spend). This seems to be a bizarre bug. Has anybody got a work-around, should I upgrade to a newer version? I'm nervous about upgrading since quicken seems hell-bent on getting rid of QIF imports, which would be a disaster for me.
