USA accepting donations

a 501c held a fundraiser to help me with a medical issue. they now have a fair amount of money in their account that they want to give me, however we are unsure of whether its an amount that gets taxed, how much cash can be deposited and are overall unsure of the next step.

the amount is in the 20,000 range to take care of medical bills parking and other out of pocket stuff

any help appreciated
