Australia Reconcillation error after upgrade

Have upgraded Quicken Personal Plus from 2008 to 2012. When doing the first reconcillation of a particular bank account the offered opening balance is incorrect. If the offered amount is changed to the correct opening balance from the bank statement then an "opening balance difference" amount is provided and included in the reconcillation giving an error. A quick investigation reveales that statements that were reconciled years ago now have entries that are shown as not reconciled. These errors are then rolled forward resulting in the opening balance missmatch. Is there a solution to this problem?
