Hello Everyone,

This is my first post and I am just really lost. I am currently almost done with me B.S. in Mathematics and I recently been more eager to learn more and pursue a life in Accounting. So I have started looking at the requirements for the CPA exam here in Florida and see I need to take other classes. Of course being a father of two (I'm 28) and work full time really can't just go back to school I have to keep slowly taking classes when I can.

I see all these online degrees, certificates like Accounting Technology Specialist and other ones. I am just lost on how to start all of this. It would be great to go to the community college to save money but not sure if those type of certificates would help me or not.

Anybody have any idea's what to look into??

I greatly appreciate it.

The online degrees you mentioned will not get you to the CPA license, if that is your goal. Find a college you can attend (at night) and meet with the college counselor and state your goal and they can tell you what it will take to get there in money and in time spent.

Agreed - you will want to triple check before enrolment that anything you sign up for is going to count toward the CPA credit hours (if the CPA is your goal).

Before you go out for the CPA exam, see if you like the field. Be a bookkeeper or work in a firm part-time. You can also find out what it takes to pass the CPA exam and where the real value is on learning materials. Good luck!
