Business Expenses - legit?

One of my friends has asked me to look into contractor expenses for them, which I've done, but I wanted some feedback from you guys.

Basically, is there anything you cannot claim as a business expense?
Because it seems like the list is pretty abusable.

I mean, you could claim a Ferrari on business expenses on the basis that it's expected of your position in meeting your niche of clientèle.

I guess the only way you could get into trouble is if you claimed for something but didn't keep a receipt?

Any insight on this would be great, preferably before my friend buys some crazy stuff in the name of contractor expenses

Just to double check - does your query relate to the UK? And is the business incorporated?
