I am not a student but I think this is the best place to post. I am 33 and have 4 years of accounting experience in private company. I have a BS in accounting and a MS in accounting. I would like to either get the cpa or the cma. But I am not sure which one. I do not want to work in public accounting, for one I'm too old to try to break in. I would have to start at the bottom because I do not have any public accounting experience and I cannot afford to do that.
I have thought about taking the CMA, but I am not sure if it is worth it or if it would really help my career. To me it makes more sense to do the CMA since I do want to do public accounting. On the other hand though I know the CPA is the gold standard.
Thoughts?
