The owner of the business I work for purchased a golf membership at a club to use to entertain clients as well as for personal/family activity mainly because someone he met at the golf club told him he could deduct it as a business expense. I know that golf memberships have not been deductible for some time and he is not happy with me because I only let him deduct meals with clients and client golf at the reduced rate he gets because of his membership as listed on his monthly club statement. He doesn't want to take no for an answer and I want to make sure I am doing all I can for him. At a minimum he said he would like some part of his monthly membership fee to be added to the discounted golf rate for the client golf fee. Is there anything I can do differently to make him happy and defray some of the cost of the membership?
