Help setting up billable time and costs

I am using Quickbooks 2011. I am trying to get my billable times and costs to show up on my customer invoice. I have searched all preferences trying to make this work. It is not showing the hourly rate and I know there must be some simple step I am missing?? Can someone please point me in the right direction, so I can get this fixed? Thanks for any help.
