How to settle the payment in account payable?

I have to below situation as I don't know how to handle:

For example, I have 3 accounts (i.e. electricity bill, cash, account payable)

And on 13rd March, I receive an electricity bill for 300 dollars that should be settled by 5th April, so the account will look like this:

And on 3rd April, I paid the Electricity bill by cash, so the account will look like this:

So how can I settle the "Account Payable"? Or did I misunderstand something??

When you receive your bill you should debit Electricity Expense, and credit Accounts Payable. When you pay the bill, you will debit Accounts Payable and credit Cash. This will reduce your cash by $300, your Accounts Payable balance will be zero, and your Electricity Expense will show $300
