Hi,

I'm confused on my tax forms in regards to HSA contributions. I am covered by myself on an HSA plan where I contributed $1200 for the year. My wife is on another HSA and it covers her and our child. That "should" mean that we are on a family contribution limit. My wife contributed $3750 to her plan.

When I plug these numbers from our W2 forms into the HR Block tax software it says we went over the limit by $400. This isn't correct, because we are under the $6750 family limit. I can't figure out what to change on the form or what I'm not understanding. It seems to be treating us both as two single plans, but one is family and is marked as such.

Am I missing something or filling out the form 8889 incorrectly? Thank you!
