USA Quicken has gray screen on entry

I use Quicken Deluxe 2014 and now 2015. I had the same problem with both,

When I open Quicken the main screen is grayed out and I can't click on any of the menu entries. It used to go directly to the login for my Quicken File.

Now I get the gray screen and get a beep if I click anywhere on the screen. I have to hit the Escape key and then I can get into Quicken

When I installed 2014 it worked fine and then started doing this after a while. I thought maybe it was a 2014 issue, but 2015 does the same.

Any Ideas?

Hold the Option key while starting Quicken from your dock.
Case 1: If there is a problem with the program, you'll still have the gray menu bar.
Solution: Uninstall and reinstall Quicken.

Case 2: If problem is with data file, you'll have a bold (active) menu bar.
Solution: Go to File>Open to see if you can open the original data file, if you can't choose File > Restore and restore the most recent backup.
