UK Systems Accountant

Hi,

I have recently been offered a promotion at work as a Systems Accountant. My background is management accounting in Higher Education, I’m an ACCA finalist (hopefully qualify in a year), I have a knack for techy issues and this was why the promotion was offered to me.

I had a couple of questions if anyone can advise me on, I would appreciate:

What are the different career path options available as a Systems Accountant?

What courses/training would you recommend? I’ve been looking at a few SQL and Oracle ones. Most of my Excel knowledge has been self-taught (up to basic VBA), is it worth going on an Excel course?
