Hello,

I paid a total of US$ 2900 of student loan interest on December 30th, 2011. I am assuming this counts as interest paid in 2011, correct? The problem is that the institution which provided me the student loan sent out the 1098-E before 2011 was over, so my 1098-E states that I did not pay any student loan interest in 2011. I have the receipt that I paid the interest, however, I am worried that if I include this in my tax return problems may occur since the insitution did not report this to the IRS.

Does anybody know if I am okay in including in my return the interest paid in 2011 even though the 1098-E is incorrect?

Thanks,

Bokunba
