Hi all

Just needing some career advice.

I am currently in my third year of university, studying BA Hons English, I will be graduating in the summer with a 2:2 hopefully. I am looking to progress to a career in accountancy/finance but needing some advice on how to go about this. Should I apply to do a Masters in accountancy/finance? Or go the way of AAT qualifications, if so, where on earth do you start, there are so many!!! Or should I look for trainee accountant jobs, that may include studying as you are working?

It may be more expensive to do your Masters instead of just doing an accounting Bachelor's degree which is all you really need to set yourself on the path. With good grades you should be able to transfer fairly easily to an accounting degree if you wanted to.

How do you currently support yourself? If you are lucky enough to have financial support from someone/somewhere, then I would suggest completing your qualification as soon as possible as opposed to studying while working. That is, unless you get an incredible job offer.
