hi there, I started a part time job this month and my employer gave me the 1257L tax code on my first wage slip and I haven't paid any tax or NI on the slip.
I'm also self employed in a partnership and file my self assessment each year.
Has my employer gave me the correct tax code and will the new job income show up on my return calculation next year

Thank

Sandra

1257L is the standard tax code and has been correctly applied by your employer.

The income from employment will need to be included on your self assessment tax return using the Form SA102.

Two things you should be aware of:-

1. You may pay too much national insurance. You have two options to reclaimimg the overpayment;
2. You self assessment payments on accountants which you pay at 31st January and 31st July each year may rise sharply!
