My accountant regularly transmits financial information online via email attachments and I am concerned about security. The documents are encrypted but he says he has no way of electronically verifying who actually opens the document. If my email account becomes compromised my personal information could be stolen. I have heard there are programs available that go beyond encryption and allow some type of access control over sent emails and files. Any information will be appreciated? Thanks

Whatever 'secure' method you 'send' an e-mail, it eventually ends up on their local computer. You have no control over their systems. I posted elsewhere that the safest way to send a document is to fax it from a manual fax machine to another fax machine, over a standard phone line. That can't he hacked.
