USA The list of things you need to do before you meet your accountant to file your taxes

Hi everyone,

I am writing a blog on the list of things people need to do before they meet their accountants during tax time. Apart from the basics- organizing all your documents, keeping a record of all the income and expenses of the year, are there any other important points?

Helpful answers will be much appreciated.

What I typically will do is everything as if I was preparing the return myself--including reading up on changes in tax law. Then, when you go to see an accountant, you are getting a second set of eyes that will definitely be on their toes since you won't need them if they don't add value.
