Hi all,

My business plans on hiring freelance photographers in the US and I have some questions based a freelancers tax obligations in the US.

I will pay the photographers a commission amount that we agree but in order to work out a fair price I need to know if they would be required to pay sales tax on any money paid by my UK based business?

Also, if they are required to pay the sales tax, if they include it on their invoice to me is there any way for me to claim it back similar to VAT in the EU.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi Aaron, I have changed the flag on your topic given that your query relates to the US :)

if they receive income they must report it... if u hire them as independent contractors u can fill out a form to pay them so they will pay tax on a 1099-MISC as their own business.
