USA CA part year state tax

I am filing a part year CA state tax using the short form which prompts for a federal adjusted gross income. Should I be entering the income from CA state alone or would it require the income for entire year 2011?
In the latter case, I would end up paying 5x the CA tax paid in 2010 for half the CA income.

Any help or guidelines would be appreciated. Many thanks!
