I have a BA in Social Sciences. Currently my wife and I own our own business, but I am considering going back to school to get a CPA, or an MBA. My wife is thinking the CPA, plus probably a Masters in Accounting on the way would be the more practical route to go. I do have a formal minor in business, but not much of it was accounting.

What would be a viable route to take from BA Social Science to CPA? thanks

Check out the CPA requirements at your state accountancy board, which will list the required college courses and credits. My guess is that you don't have the necessary courses and will probably need to take them -- the time and money needed would eventually lead to a masters in Accounting.
