USA VA Single Vs. Joint Filing

I am a 100% Medically Retired Marine. Recently was married Past August. My filing taxes for past many years was filing myself and was fortunate to get my Property Taxes back each year as my tax return. I do not pay taxes on my disability pay from Government. I receive some social security for my disabilities that no taxes are paid on that either. Can anyone tell me if I will lose out or gain to file joint with my wife or file separately ? Will I not qualify for property tax refund if filed joint ? Direction appreciated ! OOH-RAH !

You essentially need to prepare returns both ways to determine which is better. Most CPAs can and should do this as a matter of standard operating procedure.
