New to accounting

I've finished my associates degree, and I'm excited about starting into accounting this summer at university! I'm hoping to land an internship at a major accounting firm or a major investment banking firm at my senior year.

My questions for you are. How do you like working as an accountant? Do you like private or public accounting better? Do you feel like you're compensated well for your time at work. Do you feel like there is always room to grow in your profession.

I'm not an accountant but write about accounting topics. All the accountants I've met love their jobs. It's probably because they enjoyed numbers to begin with and pairing that passion with money is an unbeatable combination.
