USA US Tax Return

I have a client who spent three months working in the US. He was paid in US$ gross without deduction of US tax. The money was paid into a US$ account. The client is domiciled in the UK. The earnings will be declared under UK Self Assessment, and tax will be paid in the UK.
Does the client have to complete a US tax return. Has anyone had a similar problem?

You do not state what the visa status was or whether the earnings were paid within the US or the client remained on the UK payroll. In general terms, however, a US return will be required. Without further facts one cannot know if there may be tax payable or a refund.
