Good Evening! I just recently joined Accountant Forums and I am excited to be a part of this community of accountants. I graduated back in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in accounting and I worked in accounting for a non-profit religious organization for a little over 2 years before transitioning to work at a university in a non-accounting related area. About two years ago, I began doing bookkeeping work on the side and I will be leaving my current non-accounting related job at the end of this month to pursue fulltime accounting work once again. I am currently in the process of pursuing my CPA licensure and have passed the FAR section thus far and plan to take the auditing section at the beginning of next month. The dilemma I am having right now is related to finding a job in accounting. My situation is pretty unique and I could use your all's advice on things. Currently, my wife and I are living in Tennessee. However, my wife recently got accepted into a 3 year doctorate nursing program in California and we will be moving there at the end of this year. For the summertime, my wife is looking into travel nursing contracts in Alaska, Oregon, and Washington State. Knowing that we will be moving a few different times over the next 7 months, I have mostly been applying for remote accounting jobs. However, these jobs are very competitive and I have only had two accounting interviews occur despite applying for many different positions. I have spoken with my wife and some peers about my situation and one of their suggestions has been to apply for in-person jobs still even though you will have to leave them after 3 or 4 months. I really hate to do that to a company but I am just not having a lot of luck in my search for remote positions. What advice would you all give in my situation?
